Vacation rental real estate photography

When it comes to the Ozarks, we are famous for our rolling hills, bountiful natural scenery, lakes, and fall foliage. These features bring in thousands of tourists each season, and in response, the Ozarks provide some of the most fun, unique, and stunning vacation rentals you can find in the Americas. (pictured above is one of my most resent vacation rental shoots in Lincoln Mo. right on the water.)

Vacation rental photography differs slightly from classic MLS style real estate photography. One of the biggest differences is the "why". For traditional home sales, the why is to provide appealing images to peak the interest in the sale of the home, you want to make it appear spacious, and really double down on telling the story of how the rooms connect and interact. With vacation rental photography, its more about showing potential guests how fun it would be to stay there. You want to really double down on amenities, and I tend personally to do more one point perspectives for vacation rentals than I would for homes ending up on the MLS.

You want to give them an idea of what it would be like to stay there, and then make them want to! Another aspect of vacation rental photography I would recommend is the aerial perspectives. Working along side the owner for this last shoot for example, he let me know that there is a trail leading down through a dock overlooking the lake. The cabin itself was nestled into the hillside of these classic rolling Ozark hills.
